Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle: Freedom Riders

The Montclair Historical Society is introducing the third program of its Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle series. Freedom Riders will show film clips and you can join a discussion about the topic as guided by Dr. Lillie Johnson Edwards. Dr. Edwards is a Professor of History at Drew University. Morris Plains Museum Celebrates 350 Years of History

Be sure to visit the Morris Plains Museum where you could have a variety of events and exhibits that celebrates the founding of the state. The museum has detailed miniatures that depict a time in NJ's history. They also have exhibits on the founding families and different images on display.

The museum is also planning to have kid-friendly exhibits that would introduce children to games from the colonial era.

Swingin’ Tern Contra and Square Dancing

The First Presbyterian Church Parish House holds swinging tern dances on the first Saturday and third Saturday of each month. You can learn how to dance even without bringing a partner.

The Germans in New Jersey

The Jefferson Township Public Library will be holding a discussion on Germans in New Jersey. Author Dr. Peter T. Lubrecht will be discussing the contributions of people with German descent to the state. Did you know that there were close to 1.1 million people of German ancestry in the state in the year 2000?
